As evidence of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Bank of America:

Organization and Culture

  • Established a 25-member Executive Diversity Advisory Council that sets the direction and guides the implementation for diversity and inclusion at Bank of America.
  • Has more than 40 Diversity Business Councils operating in various business lines to address diversity and inclusion issues. In addition, more than 50 Team Bank of America Diversity Networks, consisting of geographically based volunteer teams of associates, encourage and capitalize on the diversity of our associates and promote personal and professional development.
  • Has affinity groups (informal, company-supported groups of associates with common interests) that meet periodically to network and support one another's development and success.
  • Women and people of color serve at the highest levels of Bank of America. There are three women and one African-American who serve on the 10-person senior executive team that reports to Ken Lewis, Bank of America Chairman and CEO.
  • Ensures senior executive management develops annual targets to increase diversity in their businesses and has incentive pay tied to progress in hiring, promoting and retaining people of color.
  • Provides extended family benefits and has an equal opportunity policy that includes a nondiscrimination clause based on sexual orientation.

Multicultural Marketing and Supplier Diversity

  • Has dedicated a $50 million budget for marketing, advertising, infrastructure and support tools to implement an aggressive multicultural marketing and service strategy and meet the needs of diverse customer segments.
  • Has spent more than $2 billion with diverse businesses for procurement related products and services since 1990. Bank of America has received 60 regional and 10 national awards celebrating our commitment to supplier diversity and is recognized as having a world-class Multicultural Supplier Development team.

Diversity Recruitment and Educational Commitment

  • Partners with national multicultural professional associations to recruit new talent and develop new business relationships. We are one of the largest corporate sponsors of the National Association of Black Accountants and national African-American and Hispanic MBA organizations.
  • Sponsors the largest scholarship program for students with disabilities and provides $2 million in scholarship pledges to the United Negro College Fund, Hispanic Scholarship Fund and Native American Scholarship Fund.
  • Has pledged more than $10 million to historically black colleges and universities, including the Meharry Medical College, Morehouse College, Hampton University and Virginia State University.

Disability Resources and Accessible Banking

  • Was honored with a Profile of Excellence Award from Solutions Marketing Group, a disability-related marketing firm, for providing accessible services to customers with disabilities. Bank of America Accessible Banking(tm) has a host of services that include Braille and large-print statements, TTY Customer Service phone numbers and an accessible Web environment.
  • Has made the largest Talking ATM commitment in the financial services industry. Created for people who are blind or visually impaired, Talking ATMs will be installed at Bank of America ATM locations coast-to-coast.
